Build A Web Site for FREE

Having worked in the web site development business since hypertext linking was just a sparkle in the eyes of a scientist, I've been able to learn the skills needed to put together a successful web site. As the internet matured, I've also witnessed the proliferation of businesses geared towards taking advantage of unsuspecting people trying to learn how to put together their own website. From outrageous $2,000 to $5,000 price tags for SEO to a few thousand bucks for a simple website that never makes a dime for the owner, I have unfortunately seen it all, and my guess is that for the forseeable future, things will get worse.

In order to help the newbie to develop the skills required for web site development, I'll be providing FREE tutorials on every aspect of web site development and some simple to more complex projects for you to build. You can work at your own pace, but it will take time and committment.

Search Engine Optimization HTML/XHTML Validation CSS Style Sheets Creating PDFs Tools SSI (using include files for easy site maintenance) .HTACCESS (for handling website server issues) Finding and Requesting Reciprocal Links Finding and Submitting to Directories (both FREE and PAID) Submitting Your Site to Search Engines (which ones are important) Using AdWords for Targeted Traffic (this will cost you some bucks) And much more.

Since I also run a web site hosting business, I will provide free hosting for your site as long as you are actively working on it. Once you are convinced that you can do it and your site is generating some income for you, I will ask that you purchase your own domain name (around $8 per year) and pay for a basic web site hosting account ($2.95 a month for a basic package). I will also ask that as you gain more experience and want to purchase better tools that you use my affiliate links so that I can at least recover some expenses through affiliate earnings.

The only requirements I would insist on is a desire to learn, time available to you for working on your site, and a working, healthy PC. I will not be able to help you solve PC problems you might be having such as virus infestation, cable or dsl problems, etc.

So, there you have it. This is not rocket science, and if you've been paying a programmer or an online service ridiculous amounts of money to maintain your web presence, you may find yourself soon firing them.

Please note that all hosting will provided free of charge but will use a sub-domain name in a protected area that can not be indexed by search engines. For instance, lets assume you want to construct your own website to sell "widgets", then the sub-domain to access your website might be "http://widgets.orangetreeweb.com". Later on and when you are ready to purchase your own domain name, you might opt for something like "http://www.mywidgets.com". It is a simple matter for me to map your sub-domain name to your full domain name at any time and move your completed project into an area that will be accessible to search engines for indexing. I will assign your sub-domain when you register and send your login information to the email address you provide. Sub-domains that are inactive for 90 days will be removed unless you request otherwise.

When you register, rest assured that your email address will not be spammed with offers for products or services. However, be prepared to focus on reading through tutorials and completing projects.
